Amazing Benefits of Cooking a Meal For Yourself

I was never much of a cook or a baker. Living out of a suitcase for many years set a habit of eating out. I ate at some of the best restaurants in the world as a performer on tour, but it is a slippery slope. Fast forward to 2019, the pandemic hit! Like millions of people, I got into the habit of cooking at home. My teenage daughter and I learned to bake. Every Sunday, my daughter found a recipe for us to bake the following Saturday. I became confident and a better cook and baker. Cooking a new meal can be a fun and rewarding experience. Here are a few steps that have helped me continue cooking in the kitchen:
Music: I am a musician, and one would think I listen to music all of the time. A few weeks ago, I decided to turn up my Spotify and listen to some tunes for some musical motivation.
Choose a recipe: Select a recipe that you've been wanting to try or that sounds appealing to you. Consider your skill level, the ingredients you have on hand, and how much time you want to spend cooking.
Gather ingredients: Make sure you have all of the ingredients you need for your recipe. You can either go shopping or see if you have substitutions for any ingredients you're missing.
Prepare your kitchen: Wash and chop any vegetables or herbs you'll need and set out any tools or utensils you'll need.
Follow the recipe: Sounds like a no brainer, right? I cannot tell you how many times I have ruined a dish because I did not follow the recipe. Read through the recipe carefully, and make sure you understand each step before you start cooking.
Get cooking: Start cooking your meal, following the recipe closely. Don't be afraid to make adjustments as you go along if you feel like the recipe could use a little tweak.
Enjoy your meal: Once your meal is finished, sit down and enjoy your delicious creation. You can light candles, play music, or simply enjoy the quiet and appreciate the fruits of your labor.
Remember to relax and have fun. Cooking can be a great way to express your creativity, and the end result is always delicious!
