We could not think of a better venue to begin our fundraising campaign for the film Casta Diva: The Marian Anderson Story, than in the elegant Delegate’s Dining Room at the United Nations. The great opera singer and humanitarian, Marian Anderson served on The United Nations Human Rights Committee for several years as a “Goodwill Ambassadress”. The breath-taking views of the East River, including Roosevelt Island with its new Four Freedoms Park, and the Long Island City waterfront, will serve as a stunning backdrop for our classical recital dedicated to the legacy of Mrs. Anderson.

The concert theme Glass Ceilings: Heroines of Classical Music is the first official Benefit for the film Casta Diva: The Marian Anderson Story.  This elegant and dynamic classical recital event will feature two international classical performers in fields of voice and piano, Mezzo Soprano Bri Cooper, and Classical Pianist, Aphrodite Mitsopoulou.

Legendary contralto, Marian Anderson was an inspiration to me as a classical singer and to millions of people around the world. Mrs. Anderson used her musical gift to heal a nation and break down color barriers. Casta Diva is a feature film about her life, her true love and her timeless character that speaks to all of us. It will inspire, educate, enlighten and entertain audiences of all ages. This film is currently in pre-production.
